Nestled in the serene village of Kallur, Raichur district (Karnataka), the Kallur Mahalakshmi Temple is a sacred sanctuary where Goddess Mahalakshmi resides alongside Lord Venkateshwara. The temple radiates a powerful spiritual aura, drawing devotees seeking blessings for prosperity, marriage, and fulfillment of desires.
The self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol of Goddess Mahalakshmi is uniquely carved on a Sanekallu (sandalwood grinding stone), making it one of the rarest temples where both Lakshmi and Venkateshwara are worshipped together.
Centuries ago, Sri Lakshmikant Acharya, a devoted priest, longed to visit Kolhapur Mahalakshmi but couldn’t due to old age. Pleased by his devotion, the goddess appeared in his dream and manifested herself on his Sanekallu. Later, Lord Venkateshwara’s idol was discovered in a nearby field, completing the divine union.
Since then, the temple has been maintained by the Acharya’s descendants, preserving its sacred traditions.
