Sri Kaleshwar Swamy Temple is not just a place of worship, but a spiritual nucleus for surrounding villages. The temple is revered for its powerful Shivalinga, believed to fulfill wishes and offer protection to the devotees. The grand Vaishakha Jatra Mahotsav and the Kartik Deepotsava are celebrated with great devotion, drawing lakhs of devotees each year.
It is said that performing rituals like Mahabhisheka, Bilvarchane, and Vedamantra Parayana during Shravan Masa bestows immense spiritual merit and blessings.
According to local legend, the temple site was once dense forestland. A merchant named Mallashetti, while preparing a stove for cooking, encountered mysterious divine signs when he tried to use stones from the area. The Lord revealed His presence through these stones, leading to the consecration of the sacred space.
The Kalleshwara Temple was constructed in the 11th–12th century CE, during the reign of the Kalyana Chalukyas. The temple houses a beautifully polished black stone Shivalinga, and the interiors feature four intricately carved Hoysala-style pillars.
